"SWITCH"
Alison is a circuit bender/hacker-type who also likes to play with clothing. In her closet you'll find a Simon game t-shirt and a hacked electric toy piano that has been converted into pants. At Swap-O-Rama-Rama she'll offer a presentation about her work and guide you through a workshop in which you'll be using light up cell phone blinkers to make a light up purse. Yes you'll be soldering!
Alison Lewis focuses her work on technology with a soft, fun, social and romantic appeal. She has worked as an electronic textile designer at DuPont and as an interaction strategist and designer for Samsung and Imagination. Her work has been shown at the SIGGRAPH, MIT SEAMLESS, Korea Design Biennale, and on ARTE' TV in Germany and France. Alison is a graduate of Parsons School of Design's Design and Technology Master's program in New York City. She is a freelance design consultant in New York and
an adjunct faculty member at Parsons School of Design where she teaches courses on how design affects our everyday experience and fashion technology.
Currently, she is producing an online DIY show called "SWITCH" where she and her guest co-hosts make fun and fashionable gear with electronics.
