Does your alter-ego need an extreme makeover? Is your costume closet filled with treasures that you canŐt be seen in another time, but are just too fabulous for Goodwill? Want to amass a new collection of one-of-a-kind outfits before Burning Man? Got an unfinished wearable art project that needs a little push of inspiration? We have the solution for you!

RE-FASHION is a costume swap and wearable art creation event where all your fabulous fashion fantasies can come true! Bring your unwanted costumes, costume-esque clothing, accessories, and a $5 to $15 suggested donation (no one turned away for lack of funds).

The swap begins with a giant collective pile of clothing, the unwanted costumes of all who attend. Everyone is welcome to dive in and find their next new/used items from the pile. Take as little or as much clothing from this pile as you like, it's all free!

After you have chosen your new dandy duds, slide on over to a transformation station, where you can cut, sew, glue, paint, bedazzle, and otherwise renew someone else's rags into your riches. Materials and a few sewing machines will be available to help you unleash your well-dressed muse. Or, attend a workshop where you can learn to modify your re-fashioned finds in unexpected ways.

An all day participatory runway will feature the silly, the sophisticated, and the sublime. All are invited to take a playful spin down the runway in their most fabulous fashionry. Ask the audience for their opinion on the outfit you just plucked from the pile... or just show off!

We also hope to have an outdoor costume craft area just for kids (unconfirmed as of this date, stay tuned for details!)

Proceeds and unclaimed costumes from RE-FASHION will support the CocolunaŐs Closet Project at Burningman 2006, which will supply costumes to the residents of Black Rock City. You may also donate costumes separately at RE-FASHION which you would like to be distributed to Black Rock City, rather than exchange at RE-FASHION Ébut please bring costumery to exchange, as well.
