More on Kleiwerks... Kleiwerks is part of a worldwide network of people who are creating on-the-ground success stories of sustainability, peace, and justice. As of 2004 we've worked with people from 25 countries, spanningÊseven continents. Kleiwerks offers 10-day trainings, large-scale gatherings, longer internships, slideshow presentations, consultations, and co-sponsorship of related programs.
We work with permaculture principles and appropriate design, incorporating materials such as clay, sand, straw, bamboo, stone, wood,
rice husk, urbanite, glass bottles, and whatever else is re-usable or local to the particular areas we are building in. The techniques we have incorporated include: adobe; wattle and daub; cob; strawclay/slipstraw; timber-frame; strawbale; earthen plasters, paintsÊand floors; living and thatch roofs; drystack stone and earth bag foundations; decorative and structural bamboo; and other innovations.
The money raised will support my work of creating real on-the-ground sustainable solutions such as:
* a natural building how-to educational video
* a sanctuary casita in asheville
* expansion of kleiwerks to south america
* training for south american women trainers
* potential sites in peru and brazil
